Overview

YK-80 is a non-cracks complex carbide weld overlay used in the Fixed Plant industry.
The manufacturing process of YK-80, along with the microstructure and chemical composition, give YK-80 its superior properties. YK-80 suited for applications involving high abrasion and medium to high impact.. Large sheets or custom shapes are available and can be formed into complex shapes.

Manufacture

YK-80 is manufactured by advanced welding an abrasion resistant material to a mild steel base. Complex chromium rich and other alloy powder are fused to the base plate, creating a bi-metallic material with high abrasion & impact resistance whilst still retaining ductility allowing forming and welding. Multiple overlay and backing plate thickness options are available.

Microstructure

A YK-80 microstructure consists of fine, primary M7C3 and MC carbides surrounded by
a eutectic mixture of carbides and austenitic matrix material. The very hard primary carbides form as hexagonal nodules and help to prevent wear of the hardfacing material whilst providing superior impact resistance than YK-100. The austenitic matrix material provides mechanical support to the primary carbides whilst also helping to absorb impact.

➢Primary M7C3 chromium-rich & complex carbides with austenitic and martensitic matrix.
➢Volume fraction >40%.

➢0.26g maximum

➢Thickness: 5+5 to 12+25 mm;
➢Standard plate size: 1000/1200*3000mm.
➢Max plate size: 1500*3000 mm.

8, Tolerance
➢Thickness tolerance: ±1.0 mm;
➢Plate flatness: Within ±2.0 mm over 1.5 m plate length.
